Biographical Information
Ray Mattes, ihm, MSG, MPA, MA, CPG,CCM,is a professional Gerontologist specializing in a holistic approach to elderhood.
He has served as a consultant, coach, spiritual director, retreat leader, and facilitator to individuals, not-for-profit organizations, religious communities and churches.
Ray speaks both locally and nationally in the areas of life-long spiritual formation and later life development. His academic credentials include master's degrees in Gerontology and Public Administration from the University of Southern California, a master's degree in Pastoral Theology from Loyola Marymount University, and a bachelor's degree in Social Gerontology/Human Services and Organizational Communication from Duquesne University.
Ray received his Spiritual Direction training through the Center for Spiritual Development, Orange, CA. In addition to his training in spiritual direction, he is a licensed nursing home administrator, a Certified Case Manager, a Certified Retirement Preparation Specialist, and a Reiki Master/Teacher. Ray is a member of the National Association of Professional Gerontologists, Spiritual Directors International and the American Society on Aging. A member of the Immaculate Heart Community, Ray is Certified/Commissioned for Ministry through the Federation of Christian Ministries.
Currently, Ray serves as a member of the Leadership Council of the Forum on Religion, Spirituality and Aging of the American Society on Aging.
