Distance Spiritual Direction
Pax Anima offers contemporary ways to engage in the ancient practice of spiritual direction. The first way offers spiritual direction via the phone. We will establish an appointment time and I will call you to begin our session. Each phone session is similar to face to face sessions in that a set process is utilized to establish the foundation of the session, provide an opportunity for quiet reflection and then opening the space for sharing.
The second way utilizes online video calls via Skype software. This approach enables the traditional form of spiritual direction to unfold as both the director and directee engage in an instantaneous dialogue. Such a video dialogue provides opportunities for immediate clarification, feedback and input as would naturally occur in a face to face session.
Another approach entitled "Spiritual Postings" entails the exchange of email correspondence. Either once a month or once every two weeks (it is up to you), I will receive from you an email correspondence in which you will be invited to reflect upon your spiritual journey as it is currently unfolding for you. Each correspondence from you will be received with respect and honor of your unique spiritual journey. With prayerful intention and quiet reflection I will ponder your words and follow- up with a written reflection upon the items you have so shared. You will have the opportunity to provide a brief follow-up before the month's correspondence is prayerfully ended. At that time, you may desire to take whatever has been shared more deeply into your spiritual prayer life.
What Happens in a Spiritual Direction Session?
In each Spiritual Direction session, I will offer questions and suggestions for you to ponder more deeply your own story as a means of companioning with you on your spiritual journey. As a companion, I will not provide you with answers, advice and/or instructions but rather I will assist you to hold the space within yourself in which to delve more deeply into the areas you present. Your story is sacred and the answers to your questions lie deep within your own heart. My role as a companion on your journey is to offer encouragement, support and/or techniques that may assist you in listening more attentively to the truth contained within your own story.
How do I Prepare for Spiritual Direction?
As you begin to listen more deeply within yourself you may want to explore the following:
- Dreams, thoughts and or experiences that have stirred a response in you.
- Relationships, encounters and interactions with others that have caused you pause.
- Inner movements, thoughts and insights that have arisen recently.
- The ways in which you find yourself responding to the sense of presence or absence of the Spirit within your daily life.
- The ways in which you experience/see God.
- Deep longings that you hold, wounds that call for healing, and the nourishing moments of your life's journey.
What is the Fee?
The fee for the first session is free. Additional sessions are $50 per session whether using phone, Skype or email exchange (initial email from you, my response, plus follow-up) options. Fees are payable at the end of each session. Arrangements may be made through Paypal.
